DERMAPLANING

AKA 'SKIN RESURFACING' TREATMENT

Dermaplaning is a very popular cosmetic skin treatment. However, dermaplaning is so much more than just 'shaving the face'.
Dermaplaning is a medical-grade skin treatment where we use a sterile blade to remove the top layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair (this is the peach fuzz that sits on our skin).
Our top layer of skin is our 'Epidermis' and this regenerates itself approximately every 21-28 days, but slowing process as we get older. By removing this 'dead' layer of skin, we are helping with that regeneration process which brings new cells, new collagen molecules, new elastin fibres and keeps our skin looking youthful, supple and hydrated.
When dermaplaning is performed, it helps with:
- Smoothing of our skin
- Makeup sits more softly
- Our products can absorb upto 60% deeper
- Scarring looks less prominant
- Our skin looks brighter and more vibrant
Dermaplaning is an amazing treatment to have before an event, wedding or occasion.
Please inform us of any upcoming events so we can advise you best on treatment dates and times.

DERMAPLANING FAQ'S

WILL DERMAPLANNING MAKE MY HAIR GROW BACK THICKER OR DARKER?

No, this is a very common myth. Here's the science: during Dermaplaning, we are removing vellus hair - this is the fine, peach fuzz hair that contains no pigment in the follicles. Our Terminal hair (on our head, underarms, pubic region etc is hair with pigment.

I'M GETTING MARRIED SOON, CAN I HAVE DERMAPLANING BEFORE THE WEDDING?

Yes! Dermaplaning is perfect to have before an event. However, it is important to consider this is a medical-grade, intense treatment, therefore we may need to assess what your personal downtime would be from this treatment. I always advise brides to have at least one session prior to the wedding session, to ensure we dont cause skin problems before the wedding.

CAN I HAVE DERMAPLANING WHEN I HAVE ACNE?

Unfortunately, Dermaplaning is not suitable for everyone. Acne skin is more suited to Chemical Peels due to texture and raised bumps on the skin with acne. Dermaplaning is amazing for when the acne is gone! See it as a celebratory treatment post-acne!

I'M PREGNANT, CAN I HAVE DERMAPLANING?

Yes! Dermaplaning is a safe treatment during pregnancy, and really helps you maintain that pregnancy glow!
